Blue bamboo is, without doubt, one of the best-looking and highly desired clumping bamboo.  A fine white powdery bloom that develops on the canes gives it a bluish-white appearance that is absolutely striking in the landscape.  Long slender leaves are green and hang gracefully.  

This is more of an open clumping bamboo, meaning the canes are not as tightly packed together.  Culms grow to about 2 inches in diameter. Culm walls are thin and are used in paper-making, weaving, or to make many other items, such as wind chimes.
