Privacy Bamboo

Non-invasive tropical clumping bamboo is an exceptional choice to create a fast-growing privacy screen.  These plants won’t spread underground and shoot-up wherever, like in your neighbor’s lawn.  Clumping bamboo has short roots which stay closer to their point of origin, making their growth predictable and controllable.  For this reason, Fat Grass Bamboo Nursery only sells non-invasive clumping bamboo.

Privacy bamboo of the smaller variety can also be trimmed and as a hedge, using tools like a hedge-trimmer.  Bamboo is a grass, so just like mowing a lawn, when you keep bamboo trimmed back, the foliage grows thicker.

Given the appropriate amount of space from the property line, maintaining any unwanted growth is easy.  Each clumping bamboo plant grows to a different height and size of culm diameter.  Also, some varieties get wider as they grow where others maintain a mostly vertical shape.  In some cases, only one or two plants may be needed to block an unsightly view versus planting an entire row of clumping bamboo.
